It is the job of “sweepers,” or Professional Kaiju Cleaner personnel, to clean up a creature’s carcass once it has been slain.

Street sweeper Kafka Hibino, 32, is frustrated with his employment. It was his childhood dream to join the Defense Corps and slay Kaijuus so that he could get back on his feet and start over again. After a few fruitless efforts, he gave up on his dreams and settled for a steady paycheck. Leno Ichikawa, an eager 18-year-old employee, joins Kafka’s crew for cleanup and reminds him of his ambition to enter the military.

Kafka is infected by a parasite kaijuu after a series of tragic occurrences and encounters with the junior bird. His body is transformed into a humanoid monstrosity. New powers have allowed Kafka to reassess his longtime goal.
