Every year the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam in four phases. Knowing that you have prepared for the exam from your preferred study materials, there is still a lingering fear present before the exam. Tips for Quantitative Aptitude Section

  • Basics: Have a good understanding of your basics and don’t go for shortcuts or tricks without any understanding or depth in the subject.
  • Time Management: Maintaining a proper timetable and allotting sufficient time for each section or topic is very important. Try to solve a problem within a minute or less.
  • Short-cut Methods: After having a good grasp of the subject or topic, learning shortcuts can be very helpful and come in handy as it increases the calculation speed and increases the accuracy.

Tips for Comprehension and English Language Section

  • Increase your Vocabulary: This can be done by having a note containing a list of new words or learning online synonyms for the words that you use on a daily basis.
  • Develop your English Grammar: Having a proper understanding of English grammar is very important; this is required to solve the comprehension and English language section where you will be asked to spot an error. Following the grammar rules will be required to do so.

  • The SSC CGL exam has four phases, which are Tier – 1, Tier – 2, Tier – 3, and Tier – 4.
  • Tier – 1 is an objective-based exam and has a duration of 60 minutes which will be held online.
  • Tier – 2 is also an objective-based exam that consists of 4 papers, each paper has a duration of 60 minutes which will be held online.
  • Tier – 3 is a descriptive exam that has a duration of 60 minutes, pen and paper is used in such mode of exam.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.5 for each wrong answer.
  • For PWD, the duration is 80 minutes.
